From The Editor | | | | | | | | | | Current Newsletters In an effort to make things more streamlined and give you practical tools to use in a simple way we are now providing newsletters in a pdf format that you can download and print to use at your discretion. You will need to check with the authorities at your prison facility to make sure it is acceptable for you to give the newsletter to the inmates in your cri program. You can download our newsletter or use it as a model to create your own. Check out our current issue and find out more ways you can take advantage of the resources on our website! Having said that, I intend to work to keep content fresh and applicable, while continuing to solicit articles and input from any and all of you.
At this year’s Summit, Johnny Baker spoke of the importance and relevance of social media, in connecting with, and reaching out to others; be they our CR family, or those whom we wish to serve, and especially the hurting. To that end there is a Facebook icon at the top of this page that can take you to the Celebrate Recovery Inside Page, or one that can take you to the Celebrate Recovery Inside Newsletter page. On the newsletter page, you can read short posts from those involved with or interested in prison ministry. You can add your own input if you’d like, add or download photos. It will be a great way to keep connected and informed between issues on this site. We will also copy and include posts from time to time onto this site. Secondly, and as important, is the new “Directory” feature. A priority project of Hectors, this inter-active feature has been installed as a tool to help people locate programs in prisons that have implemented Celebrate Recovery, so that people who may have loved ones or know someone who can benefit from CR, can find out if there is an Inside program currently in the state where the incarcerated person is serving their time, connect with State Reps in states that have them, or give folks a way to connect with us in states that lack a rep. Also, programs that are current can be listed by anyone serving in them…to date there 123 programs added to the directory, in just four months. Finally, we want to begin a new feature that will include interviews with people involved or affected by prison ministry, be they chaplains, prisoners, family members, correctional officers, or volunteers. This issue features an interview with Heather Layne, a recording artist who tours the country playing at CR’s and prisons. Please continue to contact and connect with us, I look forward to hearing from you. Happy New Year and God Bless. David Jones
