Chaplain Eva Smith, Charleston South Carolina County Detention Center, is a warrior of God. She has offered Celebrate Recovery Inside to all inmate units in that jail. She knows that any self-help program will be ineffective, unless spiritual reform and recovery first take place in an inmate..
She brings God’s hope to inmates, manages her volunteers, and gives up to 10 services each week. Her prison population has increased in just a few years from 1,200 to 2,000 inmates. This overcrowding has 100 men sleeping on the gym floor outside her office. She firmly endorses CRI for both men and women inmates because without faith-based recovery, there is no hope or future for an inmate. |
