TESTIMONY from TONY in SC Tony was wild in his youth and wound up in prison for a drug offense. He found Christ there, after taking a Celebrate Recovery program. He made the commitment to follow Christ, to follow the program, serve and stay clean. This month, Tony reports he has been 7 years clean, praising God and giving him the glory for those 7 years. As he prays to God, he remembers the bad sweats and withdrawal that shook him as he struggled. He clung to God’s Word tight in his heart in a fetal position many nights early in recovery. He had tried everything to stop using and failed miserably, but in the end it was God and Tony going through it together. It was faith in God that brought him out of the gutter and into the arms of Christ. He let go and let God carry him, and to comfort him when he shed so many tears. Tony now has a faith quilt on his bed, where he prays on his knees. He chose scripture to be sewed into his quilt, so he would be covered with the Word of God. The meaning of the quilt is his faith in God that covered him, with the blood of Christ that covered him, and who would never leave nor forsake him. When he covers himself with the “quilt of faith”, Tony has the full armor of God to equip him to fight off the devil and not allow any demons of darkness back into this life as a child of God. God equips him for all he needs, and he gives total faith and trust in God. He is on fire for God, and filled with the Holy Spirit. God carried him through the rough times he could not do alone. He is radically changed for ever and 7 years clean only by the grace of God. He credits Christ in his heart and Celebrate Recovery Inside for his clean life. |
